Downtown Disney is a marketplace and pleasure Island on the West side of Disney. Also known as “The Metropolis of Fun”, it is the epicenter of excitement and it has over seventy shopping, entertainment and dining choices. Downtown Disney is well known for its restaurants and theaters, and also for its Clubs. One of the best known shows performed in Downtown Disney is La Nouba, a Cirque du Soleil´s spectacular. There are also concerts of top artists from Rock ´n´ Roll to Blues and Soul. This area is open 365 days a year and most restaurants are open both for lunch and dinner.
Among some of Downtown’s dining and entertainment options, you will find La Nouba, Disney Quest, House of Blues, Wolfgang Puck, AMC Pleasure Island, Bongos Cuban Café, Wetzel’s Pretzels and Planet Hollywood. Cirque du Soleil La Nouba is a theatrical experience performed by some of the world’s best acrobats. Disney Quest is an indoor interactive theme park with five floors of interactive rides and adventures. There you can create your own roller coaster and run it. AMC Pleasure Island is a stadium where you can watch some of today’s blockbuster movies with the best sound system.
House of Blues is a lunch and dinner service where you can eat the most delicious and tasty eats. This restaurant caters for all tastes, but it specializes in Southern cuisine. Next to House of Blues there is a Music Hall where you can see top artists from Rock ´n´ Roll and Blues. Wolfgang Puck is another lunch and dinner service which provides four different dining options in one location. There is The Express, tray-service, the B´s Lounge & Shushi Bar, The Café, full-service casual dining, and The Dining Room. Bongos Cuban Café is another lunch and full dinner service specialized in Cuban foods. If you look for a fast food restaurant, we recommend you go to Wetzel´s Pretzels, a service where you will find fresh, hand-rolled soft pretzels in seven varieties, hot dogs, fresh lemonade and Häagen-Dazs ice cream. In Downtown Disney there is a branch of Planet Hollywood. There you can have lunch or dinner in a place decorated with Hollywood´s greatest memories.
Downtown Disney offers the most various choices regarding shopping. You can go to Disney Quest Emporium, where you will find a collection of Disney merchandise; or you can buy movie, music and multi-media extravaganzas at Virgin Mega store. There is also a music shop where you can buy music instruments for beginners or for more experienced musicians. There is a premium smoke shop, a three-dimensional art shop, a sunglass fashion shop, a shop selling the most various and scrumptious sweets, and a magnet shop. There are some shops where you can buy memorabilia and another one where you can get some Disney character merchandise. The ones mentioned are just some of the many entertainment and dining options offered by Downtown Disney. There are also dance clubs catering for all tastes: Hip-Hop, contemporary music, music from the 40s, 70s, 80s, etc.
In Downtown Disney there are Banking ATMs (Automated Teller Machines) located at Wetzel´s Pretzels, Pleasure Island and World of Disney among others. Some accepted credit cards are Visa, Diners Club, Discover, MasterCard, American Express, and the Disney Credit Card. There is a headquarters for services for international Guests located at Downtown Disney. There visitors will be assisted on ticket upgrades and dining, for example. At Guest Relations you will also obtain maps in different languages such as Spanish, French, German and Portuguese. Downtown Disney is an area that has a marketplace where people can dine and go shopping. Dining hours are from 9.00am to 11.00pm, and shopping hours from 9.30am to 11.00pm.
Regarding transportation, you can get around by bus, taxi, boat taxi or on foot. There are buses that go from hotels to the Downtown area and from Downtown Disney back to hotels. Resort Guests can hop on one of these buses and they will be taken on a sightseeing tour of this Metropolis. Another option is to hire a taxi that will get you to and from Downtown Disney. The boat taxi is another means of transportation that is caught at the Marketplace Dock. It transports people to and from some of Disney’s Resorts (Port Orleans Resort, Old Key West Resort and Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa). Of course that if you do not want to hire a taxi or take a bus you can always stroll along the walkway that borders the Downtown area.
